A New Era in Veterinary Care: Introducing Vetlen Pouch

Welcome to Vetlen’s Resource Hub. Here you’ll find how-to videos, news, the latest data from the Vetlen team, and so much more. At Vetlen, we’re a veterinarian-led company our team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of veterinary innovation. With a firm commitment to providing scientifically validated, reliable solutions, Vetlen is transforming the way we approach infection management and wound care in veterinary practices.

Vetlen’s mission is clear: to empower clinicians with cutting-edge technology that improves outcomes for the animals they care for. This dedication to excellence is exemplified by the introduction of Vetlen Pouch, a revolutionary advancement in the field of infection management.

Vetlen Pouch is a local drug delivery device that can be placed into a surgical site with an exteriorized catheter. The pouch has a rate-controlled membrane allowing for slow release of antibiotic. The exteriorized catheter of the device allows you to refresh the Pouch with fresh antibiotics on a daily basis.

Vetlen Pouch represents a significant leap forward in the management of surgical site infections. Developed by Dustin Williams, PhD, and Nicholas Ashton, PhD, of Purgo Scientific, this technology was originally designed for potential use in human health. Vetlen, in collaboration with Purgo Scientific, is proud to offer this groundbreaking pouch technology to the veterinary market, FIRST.

“We are excited to offer the pouch technology first in the veterinary market. It’s been a passion of mine to bring technologies to my colleagues.” says Stephanie Morley, DVM, President of Vetlen. The pouch is set to redefine how veterinarians manage infections, particularly those related to biofilms—a crucial factor in the healing process.

Biofilms, which are clusters of bacteria that adhere to surfaces and are encased in a protective matrix, can significantly hinder wound healing and contribute to persistent infections. Addressing biofilm-related infections requires specialized technology, and the Vetlen Pouch is engineered precisely for this purpose. Vetlen Pouch manages biofilm-related infections by sustaining antibiotics locally through daily redosing, promoting faster, more efficient wound healing. “Biofilms often elude what we as veterinarians have in our toolkits. I want to make sure every practice has a Vetlen Pouch on the shelf,” says Dr. Morley.

One of the standout features of the Vetlen Pouch is its seamless syringe-based replenishing system. This design ensures that the Pouch can be used for up to 30 days, providing extended and reliable wound management without the need for batteries orpumps. The Vetlen Pouch is easy to operate, place, refill, and remove, making it a practical addition to any veterinary practice.

By leveraging advanced technology and focusing on biofilm management, Vetlen is enhancing the standard of care available to clinicians. And our commitment to integrating scientifically validated solutions into veterinary practice underscores our dedication to improving outcomes for animals everywhere.

Unlock the potential of superior wound management with Vetlen Pouch and experience firsthand how it can transform your practice and the care you provide.
