Vetlen is the veterinary division of Purgo Scientific, a biotechnology company developing localized therapeutic delivery technologies for veterinary and human healthcare. Built on years of scientific research, engineering, and product development, the Vetlen platform translates innovative technology into practical solutions for veterinary medicine. While Purgo continues to advance the underlying platform technology, Vetlen is dedicated to bringing those innovations to veterinarians through products designed specifically for animal health.
Meet the Team
Cherice Roth, DVM, MS, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Roth brings more than a decade of clinical, industry, and executive leadership to Purgo Scientific. A DVM graduate of the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine with Master’s Degrees in Biochemistry and Business Administration. Dr. Roth has served in senior roles, including Chief Veterinary Officer of Digital Pet Health for Mars Veterinary Health, Lead Medical Advisor for KeraVetBio, and Chief Medical Officer at Fuzzy. She co-developed the RACE-approved Virtual Care University and MyPetDoc, and is listed as an inventor on multiple U.S. patent applications for technologies that expand animal access to care. Beyond the clinic and boardroom, she is the author of two children’s books championing STEM and veterinary medicine, as well as a textbook on Veterinary Virtual Care and Telemedicine.
Angy Guerrant
Chief Operations Officer
Angy Guerrant has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the life sciences and medical device industries, with expertise in operations, commercialization, quality systems, regulatory strategy, and organizational growth. As Vice President of Vetlen and Chief Operating Officer of Purgo Scientific, she leads corporate operations and commercialization initiatives focused on bringing innovative localized therapeutic technologies to market. Angy holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Western Michigan University and is a Certified Laboratory Animal Technologist. She lives in Indiana with her spouse and their four rescue dogs.
Nic Ashton, PhD
Chief Technology Officer, Co-Founder
Nic is a biomedical engineer with expertise in engineering and materials science to develop novel medical devices and therapies. He contributed to the book on biofilms (Targeting Biofilms in Translational Research, Device Development, and Industrial Sectors). He lives with his wife, son and daughter, and Princess Flow, a platinum half-moon betta fish who sleeps in a pink castle.
Christy Penka
Marketing Communications Director
Christy, based in Michigan, has 16+ years of experience leading global strategic marketing communications strategy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Alma College. Christy lives with her husband, Bryan, spending their weekends outdoors gardening, hiking, canoeing, or camping. They have two mixed breed puppies named Daisy and Mabel. Both girls have a wonderful sense of adventure.
