This strategic partnership expands access to the Vetlen Pouch, Vetlen’s flagship device
designed to deliver sustained, localized antibiotic therapy directly to the site of infection.
Through this collaboration, equine veterinarians nationwide will be able to source the
Vetlen Pouch more easily through Patterson Equine’s trusted distribution channels.

The Vetlen Pouch is used in both soft tissue and orthopedic cases and is gaining traction
among forward-thinking practitioners managing complex wounds and multi-drug resistant infections. The device was engineered to deliver therapeutics precisely where
they are needed. It features a rate-controlled membrane that enables passive diffusion of
antibiotics across a concentration gradient—without the need for pumps or batteries.
The pouch connects to a catheter that is exteriorized prior to wound closure, allowing for
convenient daily dosing. Every 24 hours, residual fluid is removed and replaced with
fresh antibiotics. The device can remain in place for up to 30 days, providing sustained
local therapy throughout the treatment period. Once therapy is complete, the pouch is
fully emptied and removed through the exteriorization site, like a surgical drain.
